7 Home-Staging Tips

If you are selling your home, the first thing you want to do is list your house. Within time, several interested buyers will want to come to see your home. Of course, depending on how you present the house, you may or may not sell your house. When you stage your house for buyers, you will have a higher chance of selling quicker and for a better price. Staging can include minor things around the house and potentially making minor repairs as well.

New Coat of Paint

A small aspect that is inexpensive can make the most significant difference. For example, adding a new coat of paint to your walls will freshen up and brighten the house. Although you may think that it is not the most significant improvement, buyers will certainly notice.

Deep Bathroom Clean

If your bathrooms are not recently renovated, you will want to spend some time deep cleaning them. This will include scrubbing grim out of any tiles and cleaning the shower and tub with shining products. Spending some time on the bathrooms will make a better impression on buyers when they view the house. Even if your bathroom may be older, the buyers will not notice that when they see how spotless it is.

Staining Your Porch

If you have a back porch, take the time to examine if the colour in it has worn out. If it has, you may want to stain the porch. This will not only make it look newer yet it will make the rest of the backyard attractive.

Ditch the Curtains

Having much light coming into a house is a highly keyed feature in a house. The light not only brightens the space yet it also makes it look larger. If you are staging your house soon, take down any curtains that are on your windows.

Put Personal Items in Storage

The less items that you have in your home, the better. When buyers come to see your house, they do not want to see too much of your stuff. They will want to examine the space itself and picture if it could work for them and their family. Try bringing your extra belongings to a family’s house to store for a few weeks. If this is not an option for you, there are many storage rental units in the Durham Region.

Decorate Neutrally

When you are preparing for a showing, you want to ensure that you decorate moderately. One way to do this is by using neutral colours. Having too many vibrant colours can distract a buyer from the best features of your house. Takedown any paintings or pictures if you feel that they may take away the attention of the buyer. The bedroom is a large area to focus on, as it may be decorated to appeal to one sex. Adding a different cover and blinds can make a big difference.

Taking Pets Out Of the House

Before having potential buyers in your house, the biggest thing to consider is finding somewhere to keep your pet. It is best to keep them somewhere outside the altogether. They may make a mess and potentially upset the buyers. They also could be allergic, which is the last thing that you want.

When you take the time to do a few minor upgrades around your house, you will certainly have success in staging your home to its best!
